Myocardial performance measured by global work index (GWI) generated from left ventricle pressure-strain loops was similar in young adults born very preterm or with extremely low birthweight (PB/ELBW) and controls. Mean GWI was 1749 mmHg% (95% confidence interval (CI) 1666, 1832) in PB/ELBW and 1853 mmHg% (95% CI 1772, 1934) in controls (p = 0.08)
