The thickness of the aortic valve leaflets is the average value of the three thickest leaflets in six sections per mouse. The total cross-sectional area of the aortic valve leaflets is the average value of three sections per mouse. Panels B and C show typical sections from which the measurements were made. In panel (B), each bar denotes the maximal thickness of a leaflet, and in panel (C) the red color shows the area measured to obtain the total area of the three leaflets in one section. N-value, Spearman's correlation coefficient, and P-value are shown.
