The expression levels of the phosphorylation level of myosin-binding subunit of myosin light chain phosphatase (pMBS), and of the total MBS (tMBS) (normalized to GAPDH) in the left atrial tissue extracts were determined by Western blotting in the normal human adult left atrial tissue samples (left panel; n = 3), mitral regurgitation patients with sinus rhythm (middle panel; n = 4: small number due to lack of enough tissue samples), and mitral regurgitation patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) (right panel; n = 6). The ROCK activity is expressed as a relative blot density ratio (pMBS sample density/tMBS sample density).
