Expression analyses of rat Abcg5 and Abcg8Panel A, Northern blot analyses of poly (A)⁺ RNA from a variety of rat tissues (see Materials and Methods) showed that expression of Abcg5 (top panel) and Abcg8 (middle panel) was confined mainly to liver. Panel B, RT-PCR analyses confirmed the liver expression pattern, but further showed that both Abcg5 and Abcg8 were also expressed in the small intestine and colon, but not in any other tissues screened. As a control, β-actin expression was used in both Northern and RT-PCR analyses.
