  2. *: SAAA: symptomatic aneurysm of the abdominal aorta.
  3. Individuals with prevalent events excluded.
  4. I = incidence per 100,000 person-year.
  5. CI95% = 95% confidence interval of incidence (Poisson distribution) or of hazard ratio (Cox model).
  6. HR = adjusted hazard ratio (reference ABI 0.9-1.4). HR are based on 2,799 healthy, 187 peripheral arterial disease and 189 arterial calcification subjects.
  7. HR are adjusted by age, gender, smoking, central and general obesity, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia and diabetes.
  8. p = p-value of HR different than 1.
